Like a fingerprint, each diamond has distinctive characteristics.<\/p>

\u00a0The 4Cs - colour, clarity, cut and carat weight - are the quality standards or characteristics of diamonds that are recognised worldwide.<\/p>

SIZE<\/u><\/p>

The cut is what determines the quality and brilliance of a diamond. If a diamond is not cut correctly, it will appear duller, even if it has a high colour and clarity grade. If a diamond is cut well, it will reflect and refract light for maximum brilliance and sparkle, creating what we call a high dispersion.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

There are three factors that determine the cut of a diamond:<\/p>

  • Precision of the cut. The cut itself: Relationship of the size and angles to the different parts of the stone.<\/li>
  • Symmetry: The precision with which the different facets of the diamond are aligned and interlocked.<\/li>
  • Polishing: The details and placement of facets, as well as the external finish of a diamond<\/li><\/ul>

    The quality grade of the cuts according to the GIA certified diamonds we work with at Blasco Joyero is Excellent, Very Good, Good, Acceptable and Poor. We always work diamonds in the three Excellent or Excellent\/Very Good factors.     PURITY<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

    Clarity is a measure of diamond purity and rarity classified by the visibility of possible inclusions and features under 10x magnification. It is important to note that purities from VS1 and VS2 are good purities because, from that range, we need a 10x loupe to be able to appreciate, depending on its location and sometimes with difficulty, any possible slight inclusions.<\/p>

    At Blasco Joyero we will recommend purities from VS depending on the size of the diamond and always choosing very well so that, in the case of a very slight inclusion, it is in a different place to the central part of the diamond table.     COLOUR<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

    Colour identifies the natural hue inherent in white diamonds. In nature, most white diamonds have a slight yellow hue. The more \"colourless\" it is, the rarer the diamond. The industry standard for colour grading is to evaluate each stone against a \"master set\" and assign a grade ranging from \"D\" (colourless) to \"Z\" (light yellow) as graded by the GIA laboratory.<\/p>

    Carat weight can appear in various ways in different diamond shapes. A diamond can have a different carat weight without appearing larger, and two diamonds of the same carat weight can have a different size depending on the depth of cut. Carat weight alone does not determine the value of a diamond. For example, two one-carat stones can vary significantly in price when purity, colour and cut are taken into account. One carat is equal to one-fifth of a gram.<\/p>
